Who's working in My Room
Jonathan Stancato is the founder of My Room and the creator of Inside Voice, a 5-octave, multiphonic mindbody approach to voice, song, breath, and energy that allows us to ecstatically and authentically connect to our truest self and learn just how infinite that self can be, all the while dramatically increasing range, ease, expression, and presence. Jonathan is presently Yelp's highest-rated voice teacher in NYC. He offers private lessons, group classes, BreathTripping sessions, voice healing experiences, and more.
He has shared his approaches in settings as diverse as theatre conservatories, colleges, music festivals, healing centers, corporations, the TED headquarters, and a feminist sex shop. His explorations into the voice have led him to other intuitive practices like tarot, plant medicine, hypnosis, and sound healing. His theatre company, Stolen Chair, is a 4-time-Drama Desk nominee whose work the New York Times praised as "ingenius." Jeremy Friedman is a a full-time professional healer and bodyworker who works with varied biophysical as well as psychospiritual tools to help folks of all backgrounds move through trauma towards a more intimate, direct experience of their own embodiment.
As a facilitator of your healing journey — helping you transform your relationship with yourself, become free of pain and suffering, gain range of motion and physical comfort, he will release emotional burdens and blocks, and soothe the strained conversation between mind and body. Healing from trauma is for him about creating space and facilitating opportunity - for myself and others - to experience the mindbody directly and intimately. His approach factors in ways that pain and trauma may originate or persist at physical, mental and psycho-spiritual levels, and assumes that each of these levels may need to be addressed in order to heal you in a lasting and holistic way. It is an approach that integrates wellness across many healing modalities, including bodywork (Swedish and Thai styles, from gentle acupressure to deep-tissue), energy work (reiki and intuitive modes that identify issues and support their release), and shamanic healing (spirit animal journeys, soul retrieval and extraction). Melodie Stancato is a tarot reader and sound-movement artist in Brooklyn, whose research focuses on the symbiotic relationship between self-care and art-making.
Melodie has been practicing tarot for 10 years, has led tarot workshops at Otion Front Studio, as well as given lectures on the history of tarot at Topos Bookstore. Through exploring esoteric practices like tarot with others, Melodie offers creative support and guidance to those seeking tools for deepening and clarity. Using tarot as a container, she facilitates others in a guided introspection, and provides them with an occasion to be mirrored. Melodie sees tarot readings as, ¨a tool to see ourselves, to become witnesses to ourselves¨. In addition to offering tarot readings, Melodie offers guided improvised-movement classes, both as private sessions, and as group workshops. These classes explore ways to learn and heal through the body using improvised movement as a vehicle for self-reflection and care. They present an opportunity to individually and collectively investigate the relationship between witnessing and being witnessed. Through movement she and participants will generate a space to play in this dichotomy of expression and reception as both actors and witnesses - seeking pleasure in building and holding that relationality with one another. For further information on events / classes, or to book a private session please contact Melodie at [email protected] |
